ABOUT THE ORIGINAL
The Birth of Venus, after Sandro Botticelli.
Commissioned by the Medici family around 1484, Botticelli's tempera on canvas depicts the goddess Venus emerging from the sea as a fully grown woman, blown ashore by the wind gods. The sinuous contour lines and idealised beauty echo classical antiquity. The work is housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, where it has been since the late 18th century.
Our atelier works from a colour-accurate reference, recreating each passage in oil so the surface — not a print of it — carries the image. The result is a faithful, hand-made reproduction, certified and made to last.
